How To Delete Temporary Files In Your Windows 10 PC

Running out of storage space really quick? While the applications and games that you installed may take up a lot of your storage space, there are also temporary files that not only take up your storage space, but slow down your computer’s performance. So, to get rid of the temporary files whenever you need, here are some different ways that we would like to share with you to make it easy for you.

Various Ways To Delete Temporary Files  

Using System Settings

  • Open Settings page in your Windows 10 PC, you can simply click Windows Key + I to open the Settings
  • On the next page, click on the option storage and then choose local drive that you wish to cleanup
  • Now scroll down if you have to and tap on temporary files
  • Then you will see a list of temporary files listed, select the items you want to delete and the click on remove files

Using Disk Cleanup

  • In the search box on the taskbar, type ‘cleanup’ and then select ‘disk cleanup’ from the list of results displayed
  • Then, you might have to select the target disk manually from the dropdown menu if your multiple drives or partitions. Or, it will automatically take the target disk and will continue to the next step
  • Next from the available listed options, select the file types that you want to get rid of. Then click ok to manually get rid of temporary files or folders

Using Temp Folder

  • Open the run dialogue box (Windows + R) and type ‘%temp’ in the search option available there. Then click on ok
  • This will open the temporary folder window, where you will get to see a lot of temporary files and folders. Select the ones that you want to delete and send them to the recycle bin
  • Finally empty the recycle bin to delete contents from there

Using Storage Sense

  • To use storage sense in Windows, you need to go to Settings>System>Storage, then here click on Configure Storage Sense or run it now to configure it manually
  • Then turn on the toggle button, it will run automatically with the default options setup
  • You have got the options below which you can customize the default temporary files clearing settings

It is good to practice this cleanup thing even if you have a lot of storage space left on your device.
