Enabling And Using Read Later Option In Chrome For Android

Around August last year, Google Chrome has introduced a new feature for its users. The new Read Later option will allow the users to save a web page for offline viewing. This feature can even be considered as a feature that Google has introduced to compete with popular bookmarking service – ‘Pocket’.

Steps For Enabling And Using Read Later Option

Chrome features will be hidden as we know, they will need to be enabled manually. So, here are the steps involved for enabling and using the Google Chrome ‘Read Later’ Option.

  • As a first step, head to the Google Play Store and update the Google Chrome application on your device to the latest version
  • Once the update is installed, open Google Chrome browser and then head to ‘Chrome://flags’
  • On the experiments page, type Read Later
  • Here, you need to enable the Read Later flag. For that select Enabled from the pop-up window
  • After enabling that, tap on the relaunch button to restart the web browser
  • Once the restart is done, open the web page on which you wish to use this read later option on
  • Now tap on the address bar where you see the address of the website, and long press on it, a pop-up with some options will open, select Read Later
  • Note that this article will be added to your reading list
  • Now, if you are thinking about how to access your reading list, don’t worry. Just open Chrome Menu>Bookmarks>Reading List
  • You will find all your saved articles under the reading list. If you ever wish to remove an article from your reading list, you can just simply click on the three-dot icon on the top right corner of the screen and then click on ‘Mark as read’

That is it. You are now done with the setup. This is how you can enable and use the read later option.
